Ok here I am! Back in Hyderabad for the third time after a separation of almost 7 years and 5 months. Seems like me and the city can't live with or without each other eh? Just as in my favorite Sitcom 'FRIENDS' Ross and Rachael are forever flitting between being 'On a break' and back together, so do the city of Nizams and I. We never fail to surprise each other and distance does make our hearts grow fonder.
Now if you are wondering what made me blog again after almost a decade and more importantly, what made YOU read it... it's very simple, I suddenly rediscovered my blogger account while commenting on a fabulous virtual exhibition put up by my school students, while you're plainly curious as to what I have to offer now! And tell you what, blogging is like swimming, you think you have forgotten it till you get into your skimpy swimsuit and sail through...even if it is with the help of floaters. Eureka!
Let's start with some background information. My school students (read my latest lot of the not very close to a million students I have impacted, positively or otherwise) put up a great virtual exhibition to mark our 72nd Republic Day and what a success it was! Since commenting on something we are not a part of comes naturally to us, humans, I took a shot at it too and here I am!
Speaking of observation and comments, just when we thought the 'incident' at Capitol building had put the 'Big Brother' of the world up the Hall of 'Infame', came our Red Fort 'incident'. That too on our Republic Day? A day which marks the formation of our Constitution witnessing such an unconstitutional event? Unbelievable!
There we were, switching channels between the Republic Day parade, a moment of pride and the parading of vandalism, a moment of shame. No, I have no problem with any section of the society raising their concerns. Last heard, India was still a free country, a democracy. What appalled me was the time, place and the extreme way of showing displeasure. Does democracy signify that? Not in the Political Science classes I took in school and college to say the least.
Ok let's bring back the humour, or atleast try to. So as I was saying that we were switching channels between the good, the bad and the ugly, the ugly being the reportage of the events at the Red Fort. Trust me, it felt like I was oscillating between a 'Chak De' patriotism on DD National and a '1947 Earth' bewilderment on Set Max. Hoping for the parade to never end and praying for the parading to stop.
Even reminiscing and writing about it is so draining that it is making me sigh!
Or wait, is it a yawn? Oops... it's way past midnight and I have an early day tomorrow. Yes you guessed it right, it's the new set of 'impacted' students I have a committment towards. To impact them more and absolutely brainwash them into believing that nothing is impossible and impossible is nothing (will be discussing figures of speech tomorrow afterall).
So let me wave a quick ciao to you before you start yawning too. Adios! Sayonara! Hasta la vista!
Hail multilingualism!!!
